    Bike, walk, run, or skate along a 4.5-mile section of the paved path (9 miles round trip) along the beautiful Willamette River discovering our sun and its planets, even dwarf planet Pluto! Then, escape our solar system and visit our second-closest star, Proxima Centauri, and its exoplanet, Proxima b, located at Eugene Science Center.

    We're back!! Join us for the Breakfast at the Bridges (BBB) 2023 season.

    Dress in your best Star Wars outfit for our kick-off event on May 4th!

    Breakfast at the Bridges is designed for path users and commuters to grab a quick bite to eat and a cup of coffee, meet City staff, learn more about transportation in Eugene, and get a bicycle safety check all at the same time.

    This signature summer event series celebrates the outdoors and encourages active transportation – especially walking and bicycling – to meet larger City goals, including healthy living, sustainability, and a vibrant business community. Breakfast at the Bridges features local advocacy organizations and businesses that actively work toward these City goals.

    Check out the dates for each event, the location, and the theme. Each date will also have its own Facebook Event, so watch for those posts and share.

    Start and finish: Kincaid Park in Eugene at E 39th Avenue and Kincaid Street

    Destination: Prince Puckler's Ice Cream, 1605 E 19th Ave, Eugene, OR 97403

    Description: Meet at Kincaid Park for helmet and bike decorating. Learn about GRiT. We'll ride to Prince Puckler's Ice Cream for frozen treats provided by Eugene Composite. We'll return by bicycle to Kincaid Park.

    Bring: Your bicycle in perfect working condition, a red-flashing bike light (mounted to the rear of your bike), bicycle helmet, closed-toe shoes, backpack, lightweight jacket.

    GRiT stands for Girls Riding Together. Join us for our GRiT Ice-cream Ride! This is a no-stress, beginner ride designed for middle and high school girls - and all are welcome! Female and female-identifying student-athletes and adults get first dibs, but the boys and men who support them are welcome to come support.

    Want to travel more sustainably? Go on adventures by bicycle? Cycle with your kids? Join Paula and Lorenz Eber for inspiration and advice as they talk about their adventures cycling around the world with their eleven and thirteen year old daughters through 24 countries and across four continents. The Ebers will offer practical advice as well as gear tips on how to travel sustainably by bicycle—whether on a local weekend tour with family in tow, solo across the US, or around the world. Paula and Lorenz Eber are the authors of "Breathtaking: How one family cycled around the world for clean air and asthma" published by Falcon Guides June 2022.

    Pedicab tours of river paths, murals, breweries, or wherever! Some folks hire a pedicab to be able to include their non-bicycling loved ones in group rides.

    Two to three people can ride in each cab. Or sometimes four people, if small kids are in the group. Normally tours are $60/hour, but it's $48/hour in May if you mention May Is Bike Month. Please call to arrange. A few days' notice is best, but we can sometimes be available more short-term.

    Bring your bicycle and helmet to ride through the pop-up traffic garden in the parking lot of the Maggie Osgood Library! Traffic gardens are mini streetscapes that provide a safe space to practice your cycling and transportation awareness skills. Outfit your helmet with reflective stickers and explore other bicycle resources. Need a helmet? We will be fitting new helmets for youth.

    Head over to the Springfield Library to get to know your bike! Learn the basics of bike repair – including how to oil a chain, how to reset a loose chain, how to choose a seat height, how to air your tires, and more! Free biking swag too – lights, reflectives, and more. Open to teens (ages 12-18) from 4:30-5:30 and families/adults from 5:30-6:30 pm.

    In tradition with The Ride Of Silence our group ride will visit three locations where cyclists lost their lives in traffic accidents. By bringing the bicycle community together and riding in solidarity we honor those who have passed. The ride will end back at Shift Community Cycles and the Beer Garden. Together we will raise our glasses and celebrate those that were lost.
