    Bike, walk, run, or skate along a 4.5-mile section of the paved path (9 miles round trip) along the beautiful Willamette River discovering our sun and its planets, even dwarf planet Pluto! Then, escape our solar system and visit our second-closest star, Proxima Centauri, and its exoplanet, Proxima b, located at Eugene Science Center.

    Join us in dressing up like birds and biking to the May is Bike Month Kick-off Party! Bird costumes provided at the ride!

    Ride starts at Klink Cycles (909 River Road) and rolls out at 4:30 pm. Ride ends at Oakshire Public House.

    May is Bike Month – so get your bike ready to ride! Start the month off right by heading down to Oakshire Public House, Wednesday May 1, from 5-7 pm, for a night of socializing and fun!

    Stop by the Bike Month table to grab your food and drink coupons, a free Bike Month t-shirt, and learn about upcoming events. Once you’ve grabbed your drink – socialize, join the all-ages egg hunt for prizes, or visit the bike Shift Community Cycles bike repair pop-up.

    Inspired by the weekly Bike Happy Hours in Portland, BEST’s Cycle of Change group of transportation activists is organizing a series of forums with candidates in contested races for Eugene City Council. Although attendees are encouraged to arrive by bike, we won’t be checking for helmets at the door!

    This one will feature candidates for Eugene City Council Ward 1: Ethan Clevenger, Ted Coopman, Eliza Kashinsky.

    As a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit, BEST does not support or oppose any candidate for elected office. Rather the happy hours are intended to be fun social events that also educate members of the public and candidates about key transportation issues affecting our community.

    BEST executive director Rob Zako will lead a semi-formal discussion, asking candidates — and time permitting attendees — a few open-ended questions.

    18+ Intended for adults.

    We're back!! Join us for the Breakfast at the Bridges (BBB) 2023 season.

    Dress in your best Star Wars outfit for our kick-off event on May 4th!

    Breakfast at the Bridges is designed for path users and commuters to grab a quick bite to eat and a cup of coffee, meet City staff, learn more about transportation in Eugene, and get a bicycle safety check all at the same time.

    This signature summer event series celebrates the outdoors and encourages active transportation – especially walking and bicycling – to meet larger City goals, including healthy living, sustainability, and a vibrant business community. Breakfast at the Bridges features local advocacy organizations and businesses that actively work toward these City goals.

    Meet at Arriving By Bike on the corner of 27th and Willamette between 8:50 and 9:00 A.M. Join us as we ride the Amazon bike path South to its terminus, then turn around and stop at Hideaway Bakery for coffee (on us!). From there, we'll circle back to the shop.

    Location: Starts at Owen Rose Garden

    Join Cascadia Mobility and Tree Climbing Eugene for a tree tour at Owen Rose Garden! This free event is perfect for families with little ones who need a weekend adventure. Supervised tree climbing will be happening!

    After sharing drinks and treats, we'll circle back to Arriving By Bike. The coffee's on us!

    Inspired by the weekly Bike Happy Hours in Portland, BEST’s Cycle of Change group of transportation activists is organizing a series of happy hours with candidates in contested races for Eugene City Council. Although attendees are encouraged to arrive by bike, we won’t be checking for helmets at the door!

    This one will feature Eugene City Council Ward 7 candidate Lyndsie Leech (who at the last minute had a conflict on May 3).

    As a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit, BEST does not support or oppose any candidate for elected office.

    Rather these happy hours are intended to be fun social events that also educate members of the public and candidates about key transportation issues affecting our community. Attendees will have a chance to speak informally with each candidate in a small group.

    Location: Starts at Springfield Justice Center (right across from Public House)

    Did you hear PeaceHealth Rides bike share expanded into Downtown Springfield? Join this social bike ride to learn more about bike share, get a chance to ride a bike share bike, and meet other community members! The ride will be social-paced, making a six-mile loop along the flat Riverbank Path from Plank Town to Alton Baker Park and back. Come out and explore bike share and stay for drinks afterwards at Public House!

    *Free event (drinks separate). Bike Ride - ages 16 and up.

    Location: Starts at University Park (2300 University Street, Eugene, OR)

    In observation of the Ride of Silence, occurring annually on the 3rd Wednesday of May, Eugene-Springfield Group Rides, Shift Community Cycles, and avid cyclist Richard Hughes are hosting the Celebration of Life Ride. The ride invites the community to honor the memory of those who were killed or injured while cycling on public roadways and to raise awareness about sharing the road.

    Location: Meet at Kesey Square

    Do you want to check out cool biking infrastructure?

    Meet at Kesey Square at 5:00 p.m. and take a tour with our expert, Reed Dunbar, Senior Transportation Planner. Bring your bike, scooter, or rent a PeaceHealth Rides bike. There is a hub right at Kesey Square.

    Start: Monroe Park (Monroe St. and W 10th Ave.)

    Pick-up location: Amazon Park (22 Amazon Parkway)

    Come one, come all on a family-friendly group bike ride to the Filmed by Bike Film Festival on Saturday, May 18!

    The ride begins at Monroe Park, has a pickup location in Amazon Park, and ends at Straub Theater in time for the festival. Once at Straub Theater, there will be a free Shift Community Cycles repair pop up, free Cascadia Mobility bike valet, and free pizza available! View the route here.

    Don't forget to purchase your ticket for the Filmed By Bike Film Festival after the ride.

    Location: Straub Hall, University of Oregon

    Curated short films about bicycles and the outdoors, the Filmed by Bike Film Festival is coming to Eugene! UO and community partners are excited to show 1.5 hours of films and screen the winners of our local film contest. We will have free food, a group ride to the event, as well as bike valet and on-site bike repair services for your convenience. The event is also a fundraiser: all entry ticket and raffle ticket sales will go to Shift Community Cycles. Come join us for an inspiring night of bicycle films and information about local bike activities and groups here in our community.

    Meet at Arriving By Bike on the corner of 27th and Willamette between 8:50 and 9:00 A.M. This week’s ride will include some hills! We'll head West on 27th and 22nd, bike through Westmoreland Park, then take the Fern Ridge bike path back towards Willamette Street. We'll wind up at Crown Cafe - a new coffee shop in a bus just across the street from Arriving By Bike. The coffee's on us!

    Quest By Cycle is a scavenger hunt like eco-adventure game where players pedal their way to sustainability, earn rewards, and transform communities—all while having fun! It's a fun way to stay active, explore your surroundings, and connect with fellow cycling enthusiasts.

    Location: Common Bond Yoga (326 Main St, Springfield, OR 97477)

    Join us for a FREE Yoga for Cyclists class! Get ready to stretch those areas that get tight while biking, including your shoulders and hip flexors, and melt away your stress.

    This class is open to all ability levels, folks new to biking and new to yoga are encouraged to attend. Some yoga mats will be provided, but bring your own if you have one.

    Birds of a feather ride bikes together! Come out for our bike party under the full moon! Aligning with the theme for this month's events, the theme for outfits and playlists is BIRDS!

    Moonlight Mash is music-fueled social celebration of cycling that rides from Kesey Square every lunar cycle. The route and pace are friendly to all kinds of riders. Our route takes from Downtown through Jefferson Westside to the river paths to Alton Baker Park to UO and back to Kesey Square.
